About Deductible Duel
Deductible Duel is a daily insurance-intuition puzzle about which fictional policy really costs you less. Each duel shows one made-up profile, one incident, and two policy cards labeled Policy A and Policy B. You answer one question, such as which option costs less in total, which keeps the year under a budget, or which actually covers the claim, by tapping A, B, or Neither. It starts in seconds, runs anonymously, and needs no setup or sign-in.
Every premium, deductible, claim amount, and probability is a rounded, fictional game number. The policies are only ever Policy A and Policy B, no real carrier is named, and the game never asks for your finances or any personal detail. After you pick, each card opens into a plain cost breakdown so you can see why one option won and read the trap the round was testing.
A daily run is eight quick duels keyed to the UTC date, so everyone gets the same set and can compare. Your score, correct picks, traps caught, streak, and high score are stored on your own device. Practice mode draws fresh duels without changing your daily streak.
How to Play
- Press Start to begin the day's eight duels.
- Read the profile and incident, then scan Policy A and Policy B for premium, deductible, and what each one covers.
- Tap A or B for the option the prompt asks for, or tap Neither when neither policy covers the claim. You can also use the A, B, and N keys or 1, 2, and 3.
- Submit to see the cost breakdown for both options, the winning option highlighted, the named trap, and whether your pick was right.
- Finish all eight duels, review your recap, keep your streak going the next day, or switch to Practice for fresh duels that do not change your daily streak.
Tips & Tricks
- A lower monthly premium does not always win. A bigger deductible or an excluded claim can make the cheaper-looking policy cost far more this year.
- On a coverage round, check what each policy actually covers before you compare price. If neither one covers the loss, Neither is the right answer.
- On a budget round, add up the rough yearly total for each option first, then pick the one that stays under the stated ceiling.
- Review your most-missed trap in the recap, such as the sublimit cap or the missing endorsement, and watch for it the next day.
How the daily works
- Every UTC day, every player gets the same eight duels, so you can compare how you did with friends.
- Each correct pick adds to your score; the recap totals your score, correct picks, traps caught, streak, and high score.
- Your streak, best result, and high score are stored on your device under a namespaced key, so they never collide with other games.
About the numbers and ideas
- Every scenario is fictional. Profiles, incidents, premiums, deductibles, sublimits, and coverage rules are invented and rounded for play, not pulled from any carrier or rating engine.
- The math is the puzzle: the true yearly cost is computed from each card so the comparison is fair, but the inputs themselves are made up.
- The coverage concepts are inspired by general consumer-education material from public sources such as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Insurance Information Institute (III), and Insurify. The game does not reproduce, endorse, or link to any of them, and it has no relationship with any insurer.
- No accounts, no personal or insurance information, and nothing is sent to or fetched from a third-party service at runtime.
Deductible Duel is a free educational game for entertainment only. Its numbers are rounded and fictional. It is not insurance advice, not a quote, and not a carrier relationship, and playing it does not affect any real policy or claim.
