Cost Clue

Cost Clue is a daily deduction puzzle about the cost of living in U.S. cities. One hidden metro is the answer, and eight candidate cities sit on the board. Five clue cards describe the hidden city: its one-bedroom rent band, groceries, transport, utilities, and a comfort salary, plus one signature hint. Your job is to read the clues and narrow the board to the right city. It starts in seconds, runs anonymously, and needs no setup or sign-in. Each guess returns useful feedback. For every category the board tells you whether the hidden city is higher, lower, or about the same as the city you guessed, and whether it sits in the same region. A wrong guess is still progress because it rules cities out. You have six guesses, and solving in fewer guesses earns a higher score. The cost bands are rounded for puzzle balance and are clues, not financial or relocation advice. The game is built for short breaks: a daily mode keyed to the UTC date so every player sees the same puzzle, and a practice mode that rotates through fresh cities. Your streak, best result, and high score persist on your device under a namespaced key, so they never collide with other games.
