About Rate Lock Rally
Rate Lock Rally is a daily money-intuition puzzle about which home loan really costs the most each month. Each day deals three compact rate-lock cards, each a fictional scenario with a home price, down payment, fixed rate, term, property tax, insurance, HOA, and a possible PMI flag. You order the cards from lowest to highest true monthly payment, submit, and see a clear payment breakdown with the round trap named. It starts in seconds, runs anonymously, and needs no setup or sign-in.
Every number is a rounded, fictional game estimate. The prices, rates, and lenders are invented, nothing shown is a real loan, and the game never asks for your finances. Some rounds switch to a single threshold pick, such as which option keeps the monthly payment under a set amount, so the puzzle stays about judgment rather than a fixed routine.
A run is five quick rounds keyed to the UTC date, so everyone gets the same daily set and can compare. The recap shows your score, how many cards you placed exactly, your perfect rounds, your streak, and your high score, all stored on your own device.
How to Play
- Press Start to deal the day's three rate-lock cards.
- Read each card, then order the cards from lowest to highest true monthly payment by dragging them or using the up and down keys.
- On a threshold round, pick the single option that meets the goal, such as the one that stays under the stated monthly payment.
- Submit your order to see the payment breakdown for each card, your score for the round, and the trap that round was testing.
- Finish all five rounds, review your recap, keep your streak going the next day, or switch to Practice for fresh rounds that do not change your daily streak.
Tips & Tricks
- A lower rate does not always win. A bigger home price, a smaller down payment, or added PMI can push the true monthly payment higher than a card with a scarier-looking rate.
- Watch the parts that hide outside principal and interest. Property tax, insurance, HOA, and PMI all change the real total.
- On threshold rounds, estimate the rough total for each option first, then commit to the single pick instead of ranking everything.
- Check your most-missed trap in the recap, such as the PMI cliff or the HOA add-on, and focus on it the next day.

- Every scenario is fictional. Home prices, rates, terms, taxes, insurance, HOA amounts, and PMI flags are invented and rounded for play, not pulled from any lender or market feed.
- The math is the puzzle: the true monthly payment is computed from the card so the ranking is fair, but the inputs themselves are made up.
